The main residence of La Bertrie is an eight
bedroom manoir with a lot of character with exceptional grounds,
gardens and lakes set within 16 acres and surrounded by farmland.
On the ground floor is entrance hall large salon with
two sets of double doors, parquet de Versailles flooring and
a large white marble fireplace. The ground floor is where the
large kitchen, dining room/lounge, bar room, and sizeable office/study
are located.
The ornate staircase leads to the first floor large bedroom
with ensuite bathroom, two further bedrooms and a shared bathroom
are also on this floor. In addition, there is a large grenier
which could be converted into more bedrooms or a games room.
On the second floor are a further five bedrooms and shower room.
The house is decorated and furnished and the central
heating is oil fired, typical for French houses.
There are two lakes one of approximately four acres and
one of approximately two acres. Both are stocked with large
carp up to 52lb and also numerous course fish.
The gardens and lakes are simply stunning with established
trees and shrubs. The entire estate is fenced to all
sides and tree lined and access is by one of three
gated entrances.
Within the grounds there is a tidy, well tended
vegetable garden which is also fenced and gated.
As well as the manoir there is a self contained separate four
bedroom farmhouse, with a lounge/diner, kitchen & shower room.
There are also a number of outbuildings/barns that can
be useful for storage or converted into gîtes (subject to planning permission).
La Bertrie is situated just outside of the village
of Brielles in region 35 on the Brittany border.
Brielles itself, is a small village of just five hundred
people, a lovely church a small bar/restaurant and boulangerie.
The medieval town of Vitre, perfect for
sightseeing with its historic chateau, cobbled streets, bars/restaurants/shops
etc is just a short drive away.
La Bertrie is just 1 – 1½ hours from the port
of St. Malo or Dinard airport and just 30 minutes from Rennes
and the airport of St. Jaques.
